Many reports on-line are coming out about chimeric man-sheep creatures developed.
Scientists have created the world’s first human-sheep chimera - which has the body of a sheep and half-human organs. The sheep have 15 per cent human cells and 85 per cent animal cells - and their evolution brings the prospect of animal organs being transplanted into humans one step closer. Professor Esmail Zanjani, of the University of Nevada, has spent seven years and £5million perfecting the technique, which involves injecting adult human cells into a sheep’s fetus.
What is the promise:
He has already created a sheep liver which has a large proportion of human cells and eventually hopes to precisely match a sheep to a transplant patient, using their own stem cells to create their own flock of sheep.
The process would involve extracting stem cells from the donor’s bone marrow and injecting them into the peritoneum of a sheep’s foetus. When the lamb is born, two months later, it would have a liver, heart, lungs and brain that are partly human and available for transplant.
What many don’t realize is that chimeric, transgenic, and xenograpted human-animal research has been going on for some time. THe genetic research focuses on placing the genes of one species inthe cells of another. Xenograft research has not gotten much press. This is what I was extensively involved in. Here we actually graft human tissue into animals (usually mice) that lack an immune system
My research involved grafting human ovarian tissue into immunodeficient mice and then allowing it to grow, develop, and function. This ia called a xenograft and the technique has now been developed by several groups. The hope was to develop techniques to preserve fertility in cancer patients. There has now been a case reported where human ovarian tissue was frozen, reimplanted (into the woman not a mouse) and resulted in a pregnancy.

What concerns me most about these experiments and the possible outcomes is that their first listed worry is that a mouse could give birth to a human instead of the face that new viruses and new genetic mutations will form from xenographing. As amazing as this is, we dont need more viruses and tampered genes to worry about seeing as how there are already several that claim and afflict millions that dont have any cures or hope for recovery or a normal life.

Until you people realize that nature itself is just as cruel, you will get nowhere in natural development. For the kicker, those little mice are more well taken care of than a mouse in the wild.
For example: You have two mice, one’s experimental, the other one is in the wild. One of them is well fed and taken care of, perhaps genetically screwed up at times. The other one, however, is getting crushed and swallowed by a snake.
As you can see, the mouse will most likely die either way, as would humans. The only thing keeping us alive for such long periods of time is our level of sentience.
Please, have more compassion for science, keep your opinions to yourselves, and learn how to take facts for what they are.

[P.S. I see a mouse as, genetically, an equivelant of a human being. We’re both mammals. So, if you are going to complain about a mouse being experimented on, why not offer yourself to the scientists? I’m sure you’d provide much better research.]

The first thing I’d like to say is I admire you for actually seeming to be calm in your comment. Most everyone else (me included) wrote more than a little emotionally whether they are for or against this.
In response to your example, I have an argument: I agree that both rats will, inevitably, die. It is the way of nature. I also agree that the experimental rat has a slightly easier lifestyle aside from occasional genetic “screwing.”
However, when the wild mouse dies, it will help it’s environment by either decomposing into nutrients or being eaten and used to help a snake or whatever continue it’s natural lifespan, likely helping said environment continue naturally. When the lab rat’s life clock clicks down to zero, what will happen then? Thrown into biohazard waste? Burned? I don’t know. I’m just a “normal” fifteen year old.
I, as a matter of fact, do have compassion for science. It’s one of my favourite subjects. I envy scientists and the feelings they must get when the experiment they’ve been working on for weeks/months/years finally comes to fruition. However, every human is allowed to speak their opinions loud and proud, regardless of what others may think of them.
And life is unfair. It’s a fact of life that must be learned or you’re on a one way road to hurt. The strongest may survive in nature, but once humans step in, all bets are off. I have less reason to live then the average wild mouse. He helps his environment. I see my future as flipping burgers.
Aside from that, I thank your for your light of sane argument amongst so much anger.
[P.S. Thank you for making this point. I’d love to actually be of some use. Know anywhere I can legally sign up? No point in getting innocent, illegal human-experimenters thrown in jail.]
It’s really pathetic how many people are screaming “animal cruelty”.
Give me a break. These sorts of experiments will advance medical science. More power to them!

i totally support doing studies on animals, id rather them do it on animals then humans, the only reason why they do that is to advance in science, in surgeries, and to potentially help people in the end. if they grow a sheep and it has human organs that can be transplanted into humans, in need of the same organs. that props to the fkn scientists who thought up that shit in theyre heads.

How could you do this to a human being? For if the new cross bread creature is particle human with 15 percent then is cruelty to human being.
